Foreword Thinking

Foreword Thinking is the newest addition to the fine Premium Theme collection at Woo. See the way I review themes – I browse the net for themes that are worth talking about. I see Foreword Thinking – I said definitely. In three words or less: it’s bold, lively and beautiful. Folks at Woo are trying different stuff out – which is good. Combinations of classic elements are put in to produce this theme. Elements I haven’t seen in a while, daring color play, clean page structure – just about everything a designer’s eye can handle. Let me explain:

Bright and Blended

As a general rule in graphic design: stick to a standard combination of colors also known as a schema. There are variations and gradations that designers are trained to adhere – usually conforming to some degree in the color wheel. This rule is known to produce good results – hence, people follow it. This is not the case in Foreword Thinking. The designers placed their full trust on their artistic eye, testing out different combinations until finally stumbling on a color schema that works. The result is an array of brilliant and dramatic color palette that seems to stand out from the dull world of web pages. Vivid and striking, but not – rainbow like, nor is it candy-ish – just enough to grab your attention and get you clicking.

Starting New Trends

I can’t help but notice the fonts used in heading elements such as post titles. Trebuchet MS has somewhat lost it’s popularity in today’s web. This font used to be popular in its early stages, mostly used in smaller formats, usually in the footer, fine prints and slogans. Foreword Thinking uses bold Trebuchet MS for their main heading style, including the image logo. It’s refreshing to see something different. In addition, thick dashed borders are used to separate the main area and the side bar. Transparent content area and alternating category colors completes the look of the design. Lastly, you will notice that no shiny elements are used, nor any shades and shadows – Once again, a shift in the traditional pattern of Web 2.0 design.

Other Features

Foreword Thinking includes 10 different stylesheets, ability to interchange the sidebars from left to right, editable color schemes from the control panel. Automatic image resizer, Gravatar support as well as Banner management are standard features amongst Woo’s themes.

Foreword Thinking sells for $70 single use, $150 developers. Woo also offer Themes club membership where you can access all of their templates for a recurring price.
