Folio theme by Maximus is a premium theme for Wordpress designed to work as a personal portfolio and a functioning blog at the same time. This suits perfectly for professionals in almost every industry. I am a big fan of this design and I can say – if you should ever decide on having an online portfolio for yourself – this is the theme to get. It is super clean, sharp and most of all looks very professional.
Color
The color schema of Folio Theme is very sleek and well planned. Not to vibrant and not too “matchy”. You will find the default scheme which most people will fall in love with: dark and light grays with a sharp aqua blue for header background. The theme also comes with 5 different optional color accents. I’m sure these options will blend as well. You can’t go wrong with grey as your base palette.
Consistency
You will notice the Folio Theme is consistent with design elements from home to the inner pages. For instance, the font used throughout is just from one family – (might be Arial or Helvetica). Don’t get me wrong – I love playing with different fonts! Although in Folio Theme’s case: the designer just made very subtle changes in font color, size, weight and capitalization techniques – which are very effective and kept the theme simple, serious and consistent – which I like. Other examples of good consistency in Folio Theme include: excellent spacing, use of text buttons and smooth consistent image containers (Did I use the word “consistent” enough times?).

Page Orientation
I don’t know what it is but I’m becoming more attracted to websites that are left justified – rather than a site that is center justified. Maybe it’s the “sturdiness” of the page – As you poke around in the demo, you will notice how “sturdy” the site is. By this I mean, – things do not shift around. The left sidebar stays intact, as well as the header and navigation, while the only thing that changes is the content area. Maybe it’s the nature of how we read – from left to right, that has lead me to liking this approach. Maybe it’s the uniformity of how things look from different screen resolutions. Widescreen or regular – the page looks exactly the same.
Other Features
There’s a feature post in the home page – which highlights your most recent or most widely recognized work. The sidebar is fully widgetized, along with an ample amount of space for a quick “about me” section. After all, the portfolio is all about you. The comments template support Gravatars, along with excellent templates for your archive, category and search results pages.
Folio Theme is sold in ThemeForest for a measly $25.00 – such a small price to pay for a high quality theme.
